Abstract

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, many chemical industries have adapted to the new normal, the state of mandatory confinement has taught us many lessons, some companies did not have contingency plans in place for a pandemic and many chemical industries have adapted to the emergency situation to guarantee the supply of products and services to essential productive activities for the economic reactivation of mining countries such as Chile and Peru. The implementation of business continuity plans has been revealed as one of the priorities that companies must take care of. With this pandemic we know that not only these types of incidents put companies at financial risk, but also a serious interruption or delay in the supply chain, the inability to access the job, a sharp drop in demand, accumulation of stocks or the sudden increase in price of some factor of production are situations that have been revealed in this context. The objective of this article is to show the main elements of a business continuity plan for times of pandemic and presents a case of success of a chemical industry that has faced the continuity of its operations to guarantee the supply of chemical products to activities. essential elements of the mining industries, thus favoring the continuity of operations in the supply chain linked to it.
