Since 2017 a teamwork which consists of university tutors, has been in charge of analyzing the process of Supervised Professional Practice (abbreviated to PPS in Spanish) and providing improvements as part of a project developed by the Career Direction. It was also approved by the Academic Secretary of UTN-FRSN (San Nicolás Regional Faculty of the National Technological University).
The proposal included the update of the rules and the systematization of relevant forms. Documents were digitalized in order to optimize institutional resources, suggesting also tools to gather information about the PPS participants. Besides, the tracking instances were adapted during the whole practices, so as to agilize, systematize and obtain information for decision making. During the COVID 19 emergency, the project served as a starting point in order to apply the new design as another academic department in the virtual platform of the university. This allows the students to keep active in the subject, keeping track of their activities and to constantly communicate on different applications (such as Teams, WhatsApp, e-mail, Zoom, forums or the virtual platform chat). This whole work describes the development of the project, its goals and results keeping in mind student, professor and individuals (who are concerned in the implementation process) experiences.
To conclude, the PPS helps to improve self-management skills for students. They can send queries through both synchronic and asynchronous channels. What is more, it helps to collect information and evaluate the different stages of the PPS, while also protecting the confidentiality of the information. In addition, there is a self-evaluation survey to analyze the correct information of the participants. The most important thing is that it is supported in an institutional self-management platform.
