ChatGPT: AI is here and challenges us

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing in its quest to achieve a general intelligence similar to that of humans. Different models and brain metaphors, such as evolutionary computation, have been used to achieve this goal. Deep learning is one of the biggest advances in AI in recent years and uses artificial neural networks to learn patterns and features from input data. GPT-3 is a natural language model developed by OpenAI that uses deep learning to generate high-quality text and is pre-trained on a large amount of text to understand the structure of natural language and the semantic relationships between words. The article describes a test carried out with ChatGPT, an AI tool that is defined as a language model, to evaluate its ability to answer questions and create exercises and evaluations in the field of Industrial Engineering. It is concluded that ChatGPT is powerful for solving simple issues but does not converge to a satisfactory result for complex cases and specific examples. Additionally, doubts and ethical considerations surrounding the widespread adoption of automation and AI in the workplace are highlighted, and it is emphasized that AI cannot completely replace unique human skills.
